Obituary for Mary Joan Watters (Corbin)

Mary Joan Watters (Corbin)
Peacefully at home with her loving family at her side on Monday April 14, 2014 in her 80th year. Daughter of the late James and Ethel (nee Strutt). Beloved wife of Lorne for 56 years. Devoted and loving mother of Lorne (Catherine Keogh) and Donna-Marie (Michael Flanagan). Cherished and proud grandmother of Everett, Erin Rose and Declan. Sister of Janet Clermont, Beverly D’Amour, Doreen (Guy Legros), Carole McGee, Michael (Jean), Mark (Carolyn) and Cathy. Sister in law of Joey (the late Terri) and Theresa (the late Don Charbonneau). Predeceased by her siblings in law, Margaret, Gerald (the late Cecile), Emmett (the late Betty), Billy (the late Terry) and Eddie (the late Carmen). Special aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Mary devoted herself unconditionally to her family, always taking care of their needs before her own. She did not hesitate to step in and help raise her three youngest siblings as she did with her grand children and many of her nieces and nephews. She touched so many lives with her beautiful smile, love, kindness, knowledge and honesty. Her warm and engaging conversations with old friends and new made everyone feel welcomed. Mary's faith was very important to her. Amongst her many life's lessons she made us all realize that we should at all times hold faith near and realize that God does have a plan. Though we may not know His reasoning, it is a wondrous plan.

Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor), on Friday, April 25 from 2 to 8 P.M. Memorial Mass will be Celebrated at St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church, 3891 Richmond Road on Saturday, April 26 at 11 A.M.

Sincere thank you to Reverend Francis Scott; Barb McNaulty, Tazma Baxendale, Nova Robinson, Debbie Ward and Dr. Priscilla Bright for their exceptional care and compassion, as well as the CCAC.

Special thank you to Aunt Cathy and our cousin Leaha. We will never forget the love, support and care you provided to mom.

In memoriam, donations may be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Champlain Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), 4200 Labelle St, Ste. 100, Ottawa, ON, K1J 1J8.
